  1. why cant entries from outside the country be encouraged?

  2. Hi anusha,

I assume you’re asking about the Creative Writing Competition.

The issue is partly a logistical one, and the answer is that we need to have assurance that the contestant will be in the country for the prize presentation ceremony.

It’s also a question of our underlying objective, which is to promote budding talent in the *local* literary scene. While we recognize that it is difficult to say exactly what constitutes “Singaporean literature” — is it written in Singapore but about other places; is it written elsewhere but about Singapore; is it written by a Singaporean; is it written by a non-Singaporean but about Singapore — the CWC’s entry guidelines denote that we’re looking for entries of a particular nature.

We may look into the possibility of accepting entries from other countries in future CWCs, if the following conditions are met:

    1) the entrant fulfills the age/education level requirements
    2) the entrant can give sufficient assurance to the Organizers that he/she will be in Singapore for the stipulated dates of the prize-giving ceremony, i.e. the EPM

Please feel free to contact us if you have any more enquiries.

  3. Hi,

I would greatly appreciate if you could advise me on how I may be able to contact Suchen Christine Lim. May I have her email or contact number please?

    Thanks & Regards,
    Adeline

  6. Hi there! I just wanted to ask, can I submit pieces which I put up on my blog but I haven’t submitted for any competitions or publications so far? Also, if I win any prize, will my entry be published anywhere and if so, for how long?
